Focus on Gentle Care that Benefits
both Mama and Baby

Pregnancy is a beautiful time of transition for a new mother and a healthy baby depends on a stress-free pregnancy. Prenatal acupuncture can help to ensure a healthy pregnancy and baby and keep you feeling your best during this transformative time.

How Acupuncture Helps

Prenatal Acupuncture can help the body achieve a healthy balance and regular prenatal visits can help maintain this with monthly or weekly visits tailored specifically to your individual needs. Getting regular prenatal acupuncture during the first semester of your pregnancy will help to strengthen and maintain vital nourishment and progesterone levels needed to support your growing baby.

Pregnancy can sometimes bring challenges and acupuncture can help alleviate or correct by using methods that are safe for both mama and baby. Acupuncture is a safe, natural and an effective way to treat pregnancy related symptoms with no adverse side effect.

Don’t Press There! Acupuncture’s Forbidden Points for Pregnancy

As the popularity of acupuncture has grown, so has the notoriety of the so-called ‘forbidden points’ of pregnancy.
In acupuncture school, I learned (as all acupuncturists learn) about a certain set of points that should not be used in pregnancy for fear of causing labor or otherwise putting the pregnancy at risk. I do believe that knowing about these points is very important, but I also think that their danger has been greatly exaggerated, especially amongst the general population. Research looking at side-effects of acupuncture for pregnant women has not uncovered any increase in miscarriage, preterm labor, or any other danger to the pregnancy. For this reason it is important that acupuncture used during pregnancy be a practitioner who specializes in Women’s Health as a whole.

Postpartum Care

After welcoming your healthy baby, you as a mama will need extra care to enjoy your new life to come and proper postpartum care is crucial to the healing of both body and mind… acupuncture excels at this!

After a baby is born it is extremely important to replenish the energy and health of the mama. Postpartum acupuncture will help you to naturally tone all your reproductive organs back to natural shape. Acupuncture sets you up for an easier recovery and helps with hormonal imbalances, postpartum depression and anxiety, breastfeeding problems and fatigue.  Other conditions that acupuncture helps are: mastitis and decreased milk production.
Acupuncture provides natural support for this time of many changes both physically and emotionally that occurs during pregnancy and childbirth. This natural approach to your health, pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum will complement any care you receive from your Gynecologist, Obstetrician or Midwife.
